Home Addition Permit Drawings
Learn what to gather before home-addition drafting, including existing conditions, surveys, measurements, project goals, and outside coordination.
Addition drawings must connect existing and proposed conditions
A useful addition set shows what exists, what will be removed or changed, and how the new space relates to the home and property. The first risk is often incomplete existing information, not the proposed room layout.
Information that improves the first review
- Property address and jurisdiction
- Survey or reliable site dimensions
- Existing floor plans, photographs, and measurements
- Desired rooms, approximate area, and connection points
- Known structural, utility, drainage, or access constraints
Timpson reviews whether remote documentation is adequate or field measurement should be considered. Structural openings, foundations, roof connections, and other engineered elements may require an outside professional.
